  • Fear Not!

    spirituality Mar 14, 2018

I have been struggling with fear for a long time... Along the years, I have been battling many fears… fear of the unknown, fear of tomorrow, fear of failure, fear of criticism, fear of letting people down, fear of being let down, fear of not having enough, fear of not being enough… and the list goes on and on…

I’ve kept reminding myself that ‘Fear and Faith cannot reside in the same heart’… but, saying it is easy, it is the implementation that seemed to take its toll on me… and, when you find yourself in a career where you teach this to others but fail to fully embrace it yourself, you begin doubting your integrity… It took me years to embrace my vulnerable side… it took me years to understand that it is enough to do the work, to keep trying… the battle against fear won’t ever end and nor should it end…

Our fear is our closest friend, a friend that saves our lives at times. And, at other times, fear is there to warn us that we stepped out of our comfort zone… Like a caring friend, concerned about our safety, it might freak out when we seem to be at risk… the risk does not need to be physical or life-threatening… our fear warns us when we might hurt our ego, our pride, or our feelings…

If we succumb to our fears, though, we will never grow, we will never change, we will never break the chains and fly…
But, fighting our fear, like I have been doing for years, makes it only grow more wild and strong… and, ignoring it, makes it louder generating a bigger fuss…
All we need to do is embrace this dear caring friend. It just needs to be reassured that everything gonna be fine. We need to listen and maybe heed some of its precious advice and warnings.
